Lots of people have top ten web searching tips - here are mine!

Control or Command F for a text search on any web page (or document) (eg Cat and groom) or iPad Find on Page

Using a 'date range' for limiting searches

Understanding that the Web constantly changes (so you need to be adaptable with your searches)

Reading or noting the url in your search results

Identifying - and being aware of, the information sources (who owns it?, what is their angle?)

Verifying the information (triangulation)

Knowing how to check out hoaxes....... (eg The Tourist)

Alternative places to search (such as forums, databases like EPIC, other search engines) and usage rights

Tabbed Browsing (multiple tabs of search results - terrific when you combine with Control or Command F)

Focusing your search (eg + - words domains files site:domain.com etc) and key words + keywords + keywords (adapting your search)

Refresh (understand how your cache might effect your results) and cookies...(whoops that's 11....stop now....)
